At 3:00p.m. on November 22, 1964, a group of 21 people met for the purpose of organizing
a Southern Baptist Church. This Church was to be called "Eastwood Baptist Chapel" until
duly constituted into a church body.
The Eastwood Baptist Church was constituted on February 18, 1965 with 36 charter members. On September 12, 1965, the first service was held in the preseent structure which constisted of a Church Sanctuary and Educational building. Ground was broken on July 1, 1967 for a second structure, a fellowship building which also housed Sunday School rooms and the Church library. On April 15, 1973, ground was again broken for a new and larger Sanctuary, which is our present day structure, seating over 500 people. The church was dedicated at 2:30p.m. on Sunday, December 23, 1973. During the past years the church has experienced a steady growth, for which we thank the Lord. Many souls have found Eastwood Baptist Church to be the "lighthouse on the hill" that has shown the way of salvation. We stand for the verbal inspriration fo the Bible, the Diety of Christ, His blood atonement, and Salvation by faith. We proclaim the whole gospel of Christ and try to provide teaching, preaching, pastorial, and singing ministry suited to meet the needs. We have a happy and friendly church and we invite all who like an old-fashioned church to come and worship with us. |
